Beautiful America!

...Beautiful America!

When Obama campaign reached me on phone, I answered to them that I had no right to vote because I was yet an American citizen. I was just granted aslyee to live in the US. After a long struggle for my homeland and my life, I have found a place that is America my sanctuary to shelter. Landing in Dulles International Airport last year April, I saw at immigration Center a black guy officer who knew Mon Buddhist Temple in Fort Wayne. At the baggage Claim area, black and white staffs worked together chuckling and laughing. How beautiful America was!

In America, Bush hit unpopular record of 76%. However, he is No.1 in my mind. So is in the heart of the people of Burma. Probably he is hero and savior for the oppressed people across the globe. US authors may find trouble to compile a biography of President George W. Bush. See, popularity may melt down while principality is forever, president said. I love him and I love America. I am comfortable with republican. May be it is because it is Abraham Lincoln’s party rather than I am a conservative.

Myo Zin, a Canadian painter, seeing Chicago’s night in a bird’s eye when his flight was approaching O’Hare international airport, screamed “Wow, Beautiful Chicago!” He was Obama’s supporter. He used to say he came here to see Obama’s campaign. He was occupied at my temple though, painting the building and meeting the people.

On November 4, 2008, Chicago night meant perfect to him when his choice won election. Hillary in the primary and McCain in the general election cannot stop Obama’s meteoric rise. Time has picked Obama. Obama won election capturing key battleground states. He made history being elected as first black president. Democrat won big.

Why? The century financial crisis helped elect him a lot. In the primary, he started winning Iowa and continuously in Caucuses states. In the general election, Latino Americans voted for him in a large scale. McCain’s fund is limited and he can ad just one to fifth of Obama. He spread his attack wisely when McCain was accusing him to spread the people wealth. His broad attack was so sound and McCain was overstretched to get to the blue states defending and losing ground in the reds. Independents especially young voters decided this election. Obama reached independent voters’ heart. He heard their voice and felt their issues. The people were more comfortable with Obama’s positive approach on issues than McCain negative campaign. Senior citizen voted for McCain and the young voted for Obama. It could be said young defeated senior.

Though, Collin Powel said Obama’s campaign was inclusive bridging the gap among generations. One thing is for sure Obama actually inspired the country.

Some said he has been elected merely because people were afraid they would lose their jobs and homes.

Obama said: “This is not a black America, not a white America, not a Latino America and an Asian America. This is the United States of America.”

And he roared: “We are choosing hope over fear. We are choosing unity over division and sending a powerful message that change is coming to America.”
Beautiful and flowering speech!!

Change has come to America. America is now in new direction. America is going to live in a new era.

225,000 people gathered in Chicago to cheer for Obama. Parents have word to tell their children that they can be what they want to be because Barack Obama has been elected president.

McCain in his gracious confession speech said “When the people of America speak, they speak clearly. When the people speak, we must listen. Obama is now my president and I remain serving this country.”

I honored McCain, an American hero. How humble he was! He conceded his defeat. He went to Chicago to have a private meeting with president elect Obama. The incumbent Bush invited Obama to the White House. They promised to work together to make America prosperous and safe in the competitive and dangerous world. Americans, being divided in the long campaign, turned to unity again.

Obama has reached defeated Hillary’s supporters and again McCain’s supporters. He is talent, intelligent and wow guy. Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate said she was proud of Obama and she prayed for him. What’s about Abraham Lincoln, a Republican president who saved the blacks? He may smile seeing a black descendent he fought for defeated his party candidate.

In a garden or a park, there are blooming blossoms and flowers. They may be in the same or different colors. The more different is the more beautiful. I asked a question to an American why America was so great. He said to me it was because America let the different exist. Yes, America is a garden of colorful materially and spiritually.

America is the home of the brave. It is the land of the freedom.

Myo Zin, my Dharma Friend, sees Chicago is beautiful. Now he sees America is beautiful. He may have something to bring to Canada.
I have a word to tell my friends.
America has a message to spread to the world.

America is a beautiful land of democracy like none other.
